It seems that in any divorce at least one of the parties turns monstrously selfish. They won’t admit this, and may even sincerely believe that they are just as involved with their children as ever before, but if you watch their actions you will see that they no longer sacrifice their wants or needs for their children. In doing so, they turn their backs on a once-in-a-lifetime period which is the treasure of their children’s childhood, never to be recovered. Forgetting how to sacrifice, they’ve forgotten how to love, for sacrifice is the language of the deepest and truest kind of love. Selfishness is always a poor trade off.
