My wife and I had a rare and excellent opportunity a few months ago to see the SpaceX Dragon capsule reenter the Earth’s atmosphere as it headed for splashdown off the Florida coast near Jacksonville. It came almost directly over the house as it sped by from southwest over the Gulf of Mexico to northeast toward the Atlantic Ocean. It made no noise that we could hear, and it moved much slower than a typical meteor. It was also brighter than most with a clearly defined tail. From our backyard we see so many rockets going up that it was very cool to see one coming back in. I hope to see more.
