So I was doing some exploring on the Moon with my new Explore Scientific 10″ Hybrid Truss Dobsonian telescope and was amazed by the details. These first pix, taken by holding my cellphone up to the eyepiece, hardly do the views justice! I felt like I got my shoes dusty on the Moon. I see lots of potential with this scope, although I’m primarily an observer and not a photographer. Enjoy!

These next photos were taken on the next night. Still working on getting the focus right. I have a phone mounting bracket that I will be using from now on. These photos don’t due justice to the view through the eyepiece. The details are extraordinary! I use charts to name all of the features for my star journal (like Petey in Seed of Aldebaran). You can see how astronomy inspires me to write science fiction!
