Hello again, everyone! Well, we made it back from this year’s Miami Book Fair. But before I go into that, I want to give a big welcome to all of my new subscribers! It was great meeting you this past weekend!

It was a beautiful weekend for a book fair this year. Unlike the cold winds of last year, this year it was nice and balmy in Miami. In fact, it got so hot in the afternoon with the sun shining directly on us that I opted out of my usual spacesuit. But I got to meet a lot of really cool people and introduce my work to new fans.

I love talking to people about my work. Friday morning was especially busy with all of the students present doing field trips from local schools. You may notice that I didn’t have my usual banners up. That’s because we got there right at 10:00 am just as the fair was open to the public. Usually I like to get on site an hour before a book fair or con starts, but on this day a crane had broken down at the construction site on 836 and we had to find another way to MDC. We were staying with family in Homestead and a usual 45 minute trip took 2 hours! But since I had staged all my books the day before we got set up right away. The banners didn’t get displayed, but it was of little consequence. We hit the ground running! (Despite the crane being removed, it still took us 2 hours to get back home that night. You got to love Miami traffic!)

Saturday the traffic was a breeze and we got in with plenty of time to get the banners up. I think these 2 are my favorites. I especially like the one for Book 5 as it lets me explain the features of James Van Wert’s ship.

One new thing I saw this year was these little robots driving around.

Inside they had free samples of hydration packs that you could add to water. Much appreciated!

Here I want to give a big shout out to my friend Charlie. Last year he had gotten some of my free hurricane Helene damaged books and became a big fan. Not only did he start a correspondence with me, but he also told all his friends about how much he liked my books. Many of them came by to get books for themselves and to get photos with me. They really made me feel like a literary star! Word of mouth endorsements are very powerful. The next best thing are reviews, so please don’t forget to leave some for my books on Amazon, Goodreads, or wherever people buy or read about books.

Charlie even made some sketches of Ski and Petey from “Seed of Aldebaran.” At the bottom is a sketch of Petey’s star journal. Pretty cool, huh? I am humbled that my story made such an impact. Did you see them like that in the story? Let me know in the comments!

I was also able to reconnect with an author friend from last year’s MBF. This is Suraiya Matandara-Clarke and she was only 2 tents down from me. She is an awesome young lady and you can check out her work here – https://www.suraiyamatandaraclarke.com/
Well, I guess that’s about all I have for now. I’ll get back real soon with more about my novels including worldbuilding, spaceships and space stations, and character profiles. (I know I’ve promised that before, but things are settling down for me now so I really mean it this time.) Until next time, I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving, and happy reading! – James
